Andini and her story

*ps: postingan ini mengandung bahasa inggris yg pas-pasan dan grammar yg belum tentu benar. Jadi mohon dimaapkan yaaa...

Monday night, 12 December 2011
At that night, as usual before we go to sleep, we have to pray first. You know, just a simple pray like "Bismika allahummaahya and so on..." and followed by our request, yess...just a simple request like, "Ya Allah, lindungilah aku dalam tidurku, berikanlah aku mimpi yang indah dan bangunkan aku besok pagi dengan tidak kekurangan sesuatu apa pun, amiiin". I know, it's not the real meaning of that Arabic pray, but I just want to make it simple for my children. Sometimes Archie adds his special request such as, "Ya Allah, smoga nanti malem Archie nggak ngompol supaya nggak dihukum Ayah Budi". Hehehe...

But this night, I was very surprised when hearing my daughter's pray. Do you know what did she said? (I have posted it in my facebook's status).
She said, after bismika allahumaahya,
"Ya Allah...aku mau dongengin Ibu pake bahasa inggris, semoga aku bisa bahasa inggris ya Allah".

Oooowwwhhh...it so sweet! I think that is the sweetest pray that I've heard from my daughter, Andini. You can call me "lebay or norak or biasa aja kalee" but for me it's so special (kalo kata Syahrini, sesuatu banget buat gw). Especially, if you know the story of Andini, maybe you will feel the same way too.

Andini. She is the eldest, on the next March (2012) she will be 5 years old. Since we moved to Sydney, she had a problem in speaking. I thought maybe because everybody talk in English so that she can't understand what they're saying. But apparently, it wasn't just about an English only, she didn't want to speak in Bahasa Indonesia also. She didn't want to answer any question, even the simple one like "Namanya siapa?" or "Umurnya berapa?" She just wanna talk only with Ayah, Ibu and Archie saja!!! Oh Gosh...I'm so worried about her at that time. But I can't force her to learn English instantly, because I know, it must be very hard for her, very very hard... (lha wong gw aja keder klo mau ngomong bahasa inggris, hehehe...).

Since that time, I always get her to talk in English. Just a simple questions, simple greetings or simple sentences, like "Kakak, here is your milk" or "Kak, what do you want for your breakfast?" or some order like, "Kak, would you please clean up your toys" and so on and so on...that's it. And alhamdulillah, it works! She learned gradually, step by step...especially after she joined her pre-kindy class. Just fyi, Andini will become a kindy student in Jan 2012. She will go to The Daceyville Public School. Now, she become more confident in saying word by word in English, sentence by sentence...but still only with me, her mommy. It's okay...

So, that's why I was very proud and also deeply moved when she want to tell me a story in English. Do you want to know about the story that she told me at that night? (again...I have posted it in my facebook's status, hihihi). And here is the story...

Once upon a time, there is a duck. Swim swim in pond small.
Duck jump to tree to get apple. There is caterpillar, duck afraid.
Duck go down to the pond, swim swim again.
Duck hmmm...(cari, bhs inggrisnya apa Ibu? Looking for) looking for fruit.
And there is lady bug, duck and lady bug hmmm...(temenan, bhs inggrisnya apa ibu? making friends) making friends.
Duck n lady bug eat pineapple together.
The end

eh eh...no no no (gak jadi the end)
There is a dog. Dog is wuff...wuff...wuff...angry.
Lady bug afraid and fly to the sky.
Duck swim again in the pond.
Duck have eggs, five eggs in hmmm...(sarang bhs inggrisnya apa Ibu? Nest)
And eggs, hmmm...(bunyi kretes-kretes mau pecah telurnya, bhs inggrisnya apa Ibu?)
*mampus, emaknya nggak tau bahasa inggrisnya menetas*
(then I said, oooh...the baby duck is came out)
Yaa, the baby duck came out and swim swim with mother duck.
-The End-

What do you think about her story? It's a good story right? *of course without considering the grammar and the questions*

Yeah...I am so proud of her. She do really want to talk in English (I can see it from her eyes), but afraid to make some mistakes or nobody won't understand what she said. So that, I always tell her that English is easy, same with Bahasa Indonesia.
Fiuuuuhhh...I just can't wait for the next year, when she will join her class. She must be very excited and I hope, she can learn English with her teachers and her friends.

I love you Kakak Andin...
Teruslah belajar, Ibu akan selalu mendukungmu, semampu Ibu...
InsyaAllah
